Wheel wonder Down Under

More Bussink rides for Australia and New Zealand

Further giant wheels are expected to open in Australia and New Zealand following the success of an “R60” ride by Ronald Bussink at Sea World in Queensland (pictured).

Wieland Schwarzkopf, who now represents Bussink in a sales capacity, informs Park World that that two more rides will open in the region soon.

The 60-metre-high high Sea World Eye is due to leave the Gold Coast park at the end of January when its temporary lease expires. Since its rrival in November 2006, the Eye has been enjoyed by over 680,000 Sea World guests.

According to Schwarzkopf, the R60, with its air conditioned gondolas and contemporary looks, “has proved that Ferris Wheels can achieve a new quality level.”

Interest in the rides remains high in Europe too, where several have been used as standalone tourist attractions. Two more 60-metre versions will appear in 2008, as well as the first of two 80-metre models planned by Ronald Bussink Professional Rides
