Mutiny Bay comes to the UK

Alton Towers announces pirate land

Alton Towers will debut a new pirate-themed land when the UK park opens for the 2008 season in March. The £6 million (€8.3m) Mutiny Bay will be aimed squarely at families and feature a combination of spinning, splashing and rocking rides.

Anchoring the new area will be Battle Galleons, an interactive water ride by Mack. Aboard eight galleon boats, wannabe swashbucklers will take part in a fun-filled splash battle and no one, riders and spectators alike, will be safe from a soaking!

Marauders Mayhem will be a revamp of the park’s existing Mack tea cups, carried out by WGH, while for the smaller explorers there will be Heave Ho, a Zamperla Rockin’ Tug.

Live entertainment and “gung-ho games galore” are also promised. To welcome the arrival of the new land, Alton Tower Resort’s Splash Landings Hotel will open two new pirate-themed suites.
