New children’s park planned in New Jersey
Jay Gillian (pictued), operator of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier in Ocean City, New Jersey, has been granted a 10-year lease to run an amusement park on city land in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. Gillian’s Funland of Sea Isle City, the first amusement park in Sea Isle City in almost 10 years, will include 10 or 11 kiddie rides.
Formerly Fun City, a 30-year-old park had been closed and sold to developers. Gillian’s company offered the city 10% of the park’s annual gross revenues as payment for the lease.
Gillian had wanted to open an amusement park in Sea Isle City for years, but the price of real estate precluded it. When the city offered the lease on the land, he moved quickly. The park is expected to open by May 25 this year. Specific rides have yet to be determined.
