Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada is finalising preparations to open its doors next Friday, June 12

As it approaches its 40th anniversary entertaining generations of madrileños and visitors, the water park launches the season with the most innovative attraction in its history—and one unlike any other in Europe: Kilauea. This water coaster has been installed in the new Mana Nui area, a completely new space that expands the park by 4,682 square metres, adding to Aquopolis’ more than 15,000 square metres.

“Kilauea is a water coaster designed to be the largest and most technologically advanced attraction in the park, becoming a benchmark both nationally and across Europe,” explains its director, Mariano Valverde.

The attraction features nearly 180 metres of track, reaches speeds of up to 35 km/h, rises 7 metres high, and incorporates multiple visual effects. Its four acceleration moments combine adrenaline, speed and water sensations into a fully immersive experience. Its standout feature is a 30-metre launch section powered by water propulsion, delivering a unique start that positions it as a one-of-a-kind attraction in Europe.

The narrative behind Kilauea is inspired by the legend of two opposing goddesses—the goddess of power and the goddess of water—based on the real myth of the Kilauea volcano. The launch represents volcanic force (power), while the ride reflects the essence of water.

“Mana Nui”: a new area in the park

Kilauea is located within Mana Nui, a new space that integrates not only the attraction but also new relaxation areas, designed to enhance the overall visitor experience and reinforceAquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada’s commitment to high-quality, modern and sustainable leisure.
