During a festive Grand Opening at Hunderfossen Eventyrpark, the new family dark ride Rally Flåklypa was officially inaugurated by the park management amongst international and regional press and visitors
The 7-meter long Il Tempo Gigante car, the ‘star’ of both the last movie and the new dark ride, was revealed by the mayors of Lillehammer and Alvdal, the birth village of author Kjell Aukrust and also the inspiration for Flåklypa.

During the soft opening, a selection of guests could experience the ride. They recognised beloved props from the movies, both in the preshow and throughout the ride media, creating a a high-level of engagement and enthusiasm.
The ride is the perfect example of combining traditional elements that fit the Norwegian style of the park with advanced technologies and a popular IP for all ages. BoldMove Nation managed all involved parties as overall ride concept and theming developer. The AV and media technologies are managed with their bespoke Kamino show control, allowing a full automation of preshow and ride.
The BoldMove team developed the Rogue Rides trackless vehicles, syncing the trajectories with the media into a smooth ride. Theming production specialist Kabuki applied special fabrication and finishing techniques across 3D decor elements and wall paintings.
In addition, Rodco made the Il Tempo Gigante in full size, and the technical team of the park and local artists added decorations and gathered special props. Qvisten Animation brought Norway’s most famous IP alive on gigantic screens during the preshow and ride experience, making use of special perspectives and media techniques.
Surprising and immersive race experience
The dark ride was fit into an existing building, requiring an extensive overhaul by Veidekke and the park’s technical team, complete with new wiring, flooring and adjusted rooms. The BoldMove team designed a smart ride layout and concept with optimum use of available space and ceiling heights, yet respecting all safety requirements. The result is a compact but very immersive and fun attraction that feels much bigger than it actually is.

The new attraction complements the coaster and 4D-cinema in a now complete Flåklypa themed zone with shops and merchandising. Visitors enter the fully automated preshow area where the characters welcome and invite them to support them in this important race.
Large roll-up screens with special lighting reveal the large car that can be admired also from the opposite side in the ice parlour. Walking through the cinema screen into Reodor’s caravan with fun-crazy inventions and props from the movie, guests finally enter the boarding station. Flashy themed vehicles transport a group of six people towards the first stop.
This initiates the race with an impressive surrounding sound as the vehicles are each equipped with no less than 21 speakers! This adds to the experience both in sound and in vibration, making the race even more realistic.
Vehicle and media movements are synchronised in an immersive race tunnel, complemented with 3D decoration and some surprise elements like the car reveal with Augmented Reality and pitstop with Reodor mending the broken car. The race brings them from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to the Alps and through Egypt back to Paris. At the grand finale guests triumph over the other race contenders and are welcomed with happy cheering.
Upon unboarding the guests exit via the heavily themed Paris-environment and ice parlour, where they can admire the giant race car once again. This final part brings a very strong immersion and wow-feeling, which makes the attraction even more unique.
“We are proud to offer a truly unique attraction that allows families to step into the world of Flåklypa, a universe they have shared across generations. Reodor’s creativity inspires children to dream, explore engineering, and build something extraordinary, just like Il Tempo Gigante. The story teaches them to be persistent despite failures or strong opponents, to follow and fulfill their dreams, no matter how big they are.
BoldMove and Qvisten have successfully transformed the Flåklypa universe into an immersive experience, building the excitement from the preshow through the race up to the grand finale.” — Hogne Høstmælingen, Park Director at Hunderfossen Familiepark.
