Vekoma Rides Manufacturing is partnering with Brogent Technologies of Taiwan to develop an advanced motion platform called the I-Ride.
Described modestly as “the first significant innovation in flight simulator technology for many years,” the product features suspended seats with six degrees of freedom and is available in configurations for up to 96-passengers.
The technology behind the system is tried and tested from numerous flight, tank and train simulators and uses an electric rather than hydraulic drive. According to Vekoma’s Peter van Bilsen this cuts down on noise and allows riders to enjoy a more realistic flight experience.
Two 48-seater versions of the system have been sold to customers in Taiwan. Film content is expected to be produced locally, projected onto a spherical screen and enhanced with 4D effects.
