Valo Motion, the Finnish pioneer behind active mixed-reality attractions like ValoArena, ValoClimb, and ValoJump, is excited to officially launch its newest product, Groundfall, at IAAPA Expo Europe 2026
Visitors can play it live at booth S2502 at ExCeL London from 22 to 24 September, alongside ValoJump air, and the team will share the full story behind the product and the company’s tenth year during a press conference at the booth on Tuesday 22 September at 3:20 p.m.
A brand new product
Groundfall is Valo Motion’s brand-new standalone product: a dedicated mixed-reality game built around the “floor is lava” concept that became the most-played experience across ValoArena installations worldwide, drawing more than 200 million views, 15 million likes, over a million saves, and 40,000 comments on social media before Valo Motion built it into a product of its own.
Valo Motion revealed Groundfall in May 2026, and IAAPA Expo Europe 2026 is the first trade show where the industry can play it. It comes in 19 configurations, hosting 4 to 10 players at a time, with a throughput potential of up to 200 players an hour at full capacity at its largest configuration, and the first installations are already live in Finland, Germany, Spain, and the USA.
For operators, Groundfall runs with no staff, no wearables, and no onboarding, so guests walk straight into a session. It works in gated admission, pay-per-game, and pay-per-player business models. There are no floor sensors, no projectors, no touchscreens, and no headsets to manage, which keeps maintenance costs down and uptime high.
Sessions last 2.5 to 3 minutes, so groups move through quickly even during busy periods, and every session ends with a branded gameplay clip guests can share, turning each group into free promotion for the venue. A smaller footprint, from 20 to 49 m² (215 to 527 ft²) and a lower ceiling height of 2.8 m (9’2″) mean it is ideal for remodelling projects, without requiring any major new construction.
Valo Motion’s 10-year anniversary
Valo Motion was founded in Finland in August 2016 by a small team working around a climbing wall built in a university garage, the result of Dr. Raine Kajastila’s post-doctoral research at Aalto University. Those augmented climbing wall prototypes became ValoClimb, and trampoline research turned into ValoJump. Today, Valo Motion’s games are played more than 320,000 times a day across 2,000+ units sold at 1,100+ customer
locations in over 80 countries. A full record of what the company has shipped in the last 10 years is available on the Valo Motion About Us page.
“I’m really excited to introduce Groundfall in London. It gets a laugh out of everyone when someone ragdolls into the lava, and we are going to see a lot of groundbreaking fun for the whole family at our booth next month,” said Dr. Raine Kajastila, CEO and founder of Valo Motion. “In addition to a super fun experience, visitors will get to see how we can adapt the game area for different venues and get a feel for how easily Groundfall fits into a space they already have.
Our mission has not changed since 2016: help people find the joy of movement, while giving operators a true alternative to games guests play on their couches at home. Groundfall is the easiest way we have ever built for large groups to have a blast playing together, and it answers the demand we keep hearing from our partners and operators right now.”
2026, the year of Groundfall
Earlier in 2026, Groundfall: Temple Escape arrived as a brand-new game on ValoJump, carrying the same floor-is-lava fun onto a trampoline or air tracks and giving existing ValoJump owners fresh content. Here’s what else is new from Valo Motion this year, also available on Valo Motion’s dedicated News page:
● 140+ new installations worldwide so far in 2026, across trampoline parks, FECs, malls, hotels, and resorts.
● Operations Hub, the cloud-based platform operators use to schedule, monitor, and manage the branding of every Valo Motion product they own, got a smoother interface this year. It now works from mobile too, so keeping tabs on a venue’s attractions no longer means sitting at a desktop
● New ValoArena content, including AstroBlade: Duel Mode, a new one-on-one laser sword duel, and Fort Seagull, a new level in Toywatch Island, one of ValoArena’s most popular family games.
● ValoClimb turns 10 and keeps improving, with 11 software updates this year and access to the new Operations Hub for every owner.
