Universal Orlando has begun a new ticketless entry procedure, one that seeks to make visiting its two Florida theme parks as seamless as possible.

As is the case with most, if not all, theme parks around the world, Universal Orlando Resort is constantly changing and looking for ways to improve the guest experience. While this often manifests itself in exciting new rides and attraction updates, other changes fly under the radar, though that doesn’t mean they aren’t exciting in their own way.

Last week, Universal Orlando Resort officially started implementing a new ticketless entry procedure for guests.

Once guests use their ticket upon their initial entry, access to the parks will then be based on valid photo identification. Guests will be able to simply walk up to the turnstiles, scan their photos, and enter the parks.

Express Pass is an add-on service that allows guests to skip the line for a variety of rides and attractions. The service is offered in both regular and Unlimited options, with the latter granting unlimited skips.

The plan is to bring this new photo validation system to the Express Pass ecosystem, with select attractions already undergoing testing for this upcoming feature.

It’s expected that this new feature will be utilised parkwide with the opening of Epic Universe on May 22, 2025.
