Rick Rothschild will be the new president of the TEA (Themed Entertainment Association), starting in November.
A 40-year attractions industry veteran with three decades’ experience at Walt Disney Imagineering, he is founder and chief creative officer of the consultancy FAR OUT! as well as a creative director for Global Immersion.
“Rick’s background with entertainment and education projects alike, and his understanding of both creative and technical design enable him to effectively speak to all TEA members and market sectors,” says current TEA president Steve Thorburn of Thorburn Associates. “Rick has all the ‘right stuff’ to take the TEA into the post-recession global commerce environment.”
Still a consultant to Disney, Rothschild’s projects include directing the creation of Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and bringing back the Captain EO attraction. At Global Immersion he is part of a team supporting the development of unique planetarium and immersive theatre experiences worldwide. Rothschild will be handed the reigns to the TEA presidency during IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando.
