Six Flags Dubailand

Middle East park planned

Six Flags is the latest big name to announce it will create a dedicated amusement park at Dubailand, United Arab Emitrates. As part of a strategic alliance with Dubailand developer Tatweer, Six Flags will create its first new park outside the US since its ill-fated foray into Europe.

Featuring a signature mix of thrill and adventure rides, Six Flags Dubailand will be a five million square feet project. The multi-billion dirham park will incorporate entertainment franchises such as the children’s musical group Wiggles and professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, plus live entertainment offerings including Operation Spygirl. Tatweer and Six Flags will also work together to create other new concepts across the region, such as Six Flags-branded waterparks, restaurants, hotels and retail outlets.
Groundbreaking on the new park is expected in 2009. Six Flags will conceptualise and oversee the park’s masterplan, while its corporate alliance division will represent Dubailand for international sponsorship opportunities.
Six Flags Dubailand will join an elite list of Tatweer-developed projects that also include the Global Village, Tiger Woods Dubai, Universal Studios Dubailand, DreamWorks Animation Park and Hit Entertainment’s Little Big Club. The new park forms part of Tatweer’s contribution to the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, which aims to develop the emirate into a leading global hub for tourism and leisure.
