Shaun the Sheep farm garden opens in Japan

Aardman and Tohokushinsha Film Corporation have opened a new Shaun the Sheep area at the English Garden Rosa & Berry, an English garden themed attraction in Tawada, Japan. Shaun the Sheep Farm Garden is an exciting new facility within the garden where children and adults can have fun together through “seeing,” “experiencing,” “learning,” and “eating.”

The 5,000 square metre (53,820 square feet) attraction showcases life-sized versions of sets from the award-winning world of Shaun the Sheep, such as the Farmer’s House and the Sheep’s Barn alongside a number of statues of popular characters including Shaun, Bitzer and the Farmer. The site also features a café with an outdoor terrace and a multipurpose facility, available for hosting exhibitions and events, to provide further fun for the entire family. The gift shop offers a range of appealing official Shaun merchandise including bespoke items developed especially for Shaun the Sheep Farm Garden.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of the Shaun the Sheep Farm Garden at The English Garden Rosa & Berry Tawada, Japan,” noted Ngaio Harding-Hill, Head of Attractions and Live Experiences at Aardman, “which offers visitors an exciting world first – the opportunity to experience a life-sized recreation of Mossy Bottom Farm, set in the stunning countryside of the Shiga Prefecture.”

The Farmer’s House area is focussed on the theme of “seeing” and features a life-sized recreation of the Farmer’s House where visitors can actually go inside and experience Shaun’s world. The ground floor of the house is a faithful re-creation of the Farmer’s sitting room and kitchen where visitors are able to take photos next to the Farmer as he sits in his beloved arm chair. The upper floor features a re-creation of the Farmer’s bedroom and bathroom as well as a space where panels introducing the visitors to the history of Aardman can be enjoyed alongside genuine character puppets from the series.

The Sheep’s Barn is the place where Shaun and the flock sleep at night. The barn is not only a faithful re-creation of its interior, but its exterior details such as its corrugated iron roof and exterior walls are also realistically re-created at the attraction. The barn focusses on the themes of “experiencing” and “learning” and is a dedicated space where both children and their parents can enjoy various games and activities.

The Café/Terrace is a place where the visitors can experience a touch of British culinary culture. Light meals, confectioneries, and drinks can be enjoyed here while overlooking the beautiful view across the entire Rosa & Berry grounds and the countryside beyond. The gift shop will also be placed here offering official Shaun merchandise including bespoke items developed for Shaun the Sheep Farm Garden.
