Swedish group announces trio of new coasters

zAn Intamin ZacSpin coaster, the world’s first Free Fly coaster from S&S and a Vekoma family coaster will all be unveiled next season at parks in Sweden thanks to a SEK150 million (€15.2m/$20m) investment being made by the Parks & Resorts Scandinavia group.

At the flagship Gröna Lund in Stockholm (pictured above), Insane will be the park’s fifth coaster, available to guests from April 25 onwards. Given a riverside setting, the ride will provide riders with the sensation of falling down towards the water as they travel along its undulating vertical track in cars that perform somersaults. Standing 35.5-metres tall and lasting around 75 seconds, this will be Intamin’s largest ZacSpin installation to date. The ride will feature theming by Nick Farmer of Farmer Attraction Development.

At Skara Sommarland, guests will be given the sensation of flight on Tranan (the Crane, pictured below), is first ever Free Fly coaster by S&S Power, featuring suspended cars that hang outside the rails. The 500-metre-long ride will accommodate up to 900 riders an hour and be located in the park’s old Motorland area. The park reopens May 30.

Finally, at Kolmården wildlife park, Delfinexpressen will debut on May 1. This themed family coaster by Vekoma will feature 335-metres of track and provide a ride experience lasting around 75 seconds.
