Robotland promised for 2013

Scheduled to open in 2013, subject to funding, Robotland is a one-of-a-kind theme park planned for the South Korean city of Incheon, less than an hour from Seoul.

The park will be split into four lands – Robot Kingdom, KIdbot Village, Robotopia and Fun City – and feature more than 26 rides and attractions, including rollercoasters, river rapids, a drop tower and 4D cinema. Included among various shows and information pavilions will be a robot parade. A robot education centre, games arena and convention centre is also planned for the park.

Park representatives expect Robotland to attract around 2.8 million annual guests and describe the venture as a “fourth generation” theme park.” Disneyland, for example, is a first generation park focusing on a dream and fantasy, while Sea World is a second generation park, focusing on animals and nature. EPCOT, with its high-tech and space focus, is a third generation park.

Developers are now in the process of trying to find sponsors and investors in order to partially fund construction, which is due to begin in November. Opening is planned for April 2013.
