Ocean Park revealed on Thursday the details regarding the development of the Ocean Park Adventure Zone, which will feature a duo bungee jumping attraction among various other new offerings following its renovation scheduled for 2028.
This announcement is part of a partnership with a consortium that includes Shun Tak Holdings Limited (HKSE 242) and AJ Hackett International Group.
The Adventure Zone, situated in the coastal mountain region of The Summit, spans approximately 120,000 square meters. It will transform the previous site of the retired classic ride “Raging River” into a space that includes duo bungee jumping and duo swing attractions, as well as outdoor parks and rock climbing walls.
Furthermore, the area previously occupied by the “Mine Train” will be redeveloped into an activity centre featuring ziplines, alpine coasters, and additional attractions.
A notable enhancement will be the introduction of two extensive ziplines, each one kilometer in length, at the former Boardwalk Café site, providing visitors with stunning views of Aberdeen Channel and the Southside. The zone will also incorporate three slides aimed at thrill-seekers.
Construction for this project is anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter of this year, with a target completion date set for mid-2028.
Visitors will be required to purchase separate tickets to access these new attractions. Ocean Park has highlighted that the three proposed areas have been carefully designed to utilize existing infrastructure while harmonizing with the park’s natural landscape. The park intends to employ environmentally sustainable materials and integrate educational and entertainment features, such as information columns, puzzles, and tactile props, to fulfill its social responsibilities and promote conservation initiatives.
Paulo Pong Kin-yee, Chairman of Ocean Park Corporation, conveyed his excitement regarding this project, describing it as a significant milestone for both the park and Hong Kong’s tourism sector. He expressed confidence that the Adventure Zone will draw in adventure seekers and families alike, thereby enhancing the overall visitor experience.
