New Lighthouse Tower on the beach at Santa Cruz

The Sunkid Tower launched this month as a “Lighthouse Lift-Off” at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park.

Founded in 1907, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is known as a one-of-a-kind amusement park in the world for its spectacular beach setting and great rides.

The Sunkid Tower is also one of the classics with its more than 110 installations worldwide.

“The operating principle of the Tower is easy to explain,” said a spokesperson. “By pulling the rope of the Tower, the double seat moves upwards with motorised assistance. Each passenger can decide how high it should go. Any time the rope is released, the double seat gently descends again. So it is possible to go up and down as one like. During the ride, the Sunkid Tower rotates around its own axis, rewarding passengers with a magnificent panoramic view.

“This type of view is strongly reminiscent of a lighthouse, which is why the Sunkid Tower is also painted red and white and features a large beacon house. As a result, this ride also blends in perfectly visually with the breath-taking backdrop on the beach.”

Kris Ray, spokesperson Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is excited about the new attraction, “Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is thrilled to welcome Lighthouse Lift-Off to our lineup of exciting and unique rides. It’s a new and fun experience for our youngest riders, and the lighthouse theme matches our seaside boardwalk perfectly.”
