Megafobia reopens at Oakwood Theme Park

The iconic wooden roller coaster Megafobia has reopened at Oakwood Theme Park in Wales following months of retracking.

Megafobia opened in 1996, and is now considered to be the ‘jewel in the crown’ for Oakwood Theme Park. It has received extensive reprofiling and rebuilding by The Gravity Group during a $2M programme of work.

Work started offsite in September last year at The Gravity Group’s factory in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then in January this year the team arrived onsite at Oakwood Theme Park to commence the onsite works.

This exciting project has seen work carried out on approximately 40% of the roller coaster, including the first and second drops, with a complete retrack of these areas with The Gravity Group’s award winning Vertical Engineered Track installed in both locations. Both drops have also been reprofiled, with the first drop being made steeper as part of this ambitious project.
