Legoland California launches Land of Adventure

Brand new area in Carlsbad

Based in Carlsbad, Legoland California has unveiled a brand new area and its first-ever dark ride.

Land of Adventure is home to Lost Kingdom Adventure by Sally Corp, where riders board all-terrain roadsters and explore ancient temple ruins aiming laser blasters at targets along the way. For every target hit, guests receive points and are brought closer to finding the evil Sam Sinister, saving Pippin Reed and ultimately discovering a room full of Lego treasure. Brave guests encounter 10 different scenes along the journey including a spider’s lair, professor’s lab, mummy relics and a performing skeleton band.
Adjacent to the hidden ruins, a different adventure awaits with rides including Cargo Ace, a plane ride from Zamperla, and Beetle Bounce, a themed S&S Frog Hopper.
“Land of Adventure symbolises the essence of Legoland California very well,” believes the park’s president and general manager John Jakobsen. “It has something for every member of the family, is extremely interactive and has 75 new Lego models created out of nearly half a million Lego bricks.”
Land of Adventure is part of a $20 million dollar investment by Merlin Entertainments into the Legoland California Resort this year. North America’s first Sea Life Aquarium opens July adjacent to the theme park.
*As we reported last issue, The Xanadu retail/entertainment complex in New Jersey will include a 44,000-sq-ft Legoland Discovery Centre, a mini undercover version of Legoland. The first US outlet is due to open near Chicago this coming August.
