Exclusive Miniland for Legoland Water Park Gardaland

Just a few months after the announcement of the construction of Legoland Water Park Gardaland, interest in the water park and the features that will characterise it continues to grow.

The Miniland will undoubtedly be one of the attractions to trigger curiosity and attract attention among its visitors; covering a large area, it will host model reconstructions of Italy’s most iconic monuments and symbols. To do this, an incredible 4.9 million LEGO bricks will be needed.

“About a hundred monuments, all made on a scale of 1:20, have been specially designed for the Legoland Water Park Gardaland, which will make the Miniland unique throughout the whole world”, said Luca Marigo, sales and marketing director of Gardaland. “And these are certainly not small models, because the LEGO model of the Milan Cathedral, the tallest monument in the area, is more than 3 metres high, while the model of Saint Peter’s Cathedral is a good 5.6 metres wide.”

The Miniland area is divided into six clusters laid out on one side of the Lazy River, it is visible while riding on inflatable boats – which Visitors can personalise using large floating LEGO bricks – and can be visited on dry land: it will be like making a fascinating journey through Italy, but this time made entirely from LEGO bricks.

The area dedicated to Venice will be particularly fascinating, with Saint Mark’s Cathedral – 1.120 m high, 160 cm wide and 181 cm deep – and Saint Mark’s Bell Tower at its centre – 3 metres high and 40 cm wide. It took almost 75,000 LEGO bricks and a good 525 elements –  which needed two designers  and 10 builders for a total of 1,243 hours’ work.  “Our main challenge – they added – “was to succeed in transforming some of the architectural elements from the Cathedral’s façade into LEGO bricks, such as the sculpture of the Lion  Saint Mark’s and the statue representing Justice”.

This LEGO model of the Bell Tower, which is a faithful representation of the original monument, will also be interactive, in that Visitors will be able to ring the church bells (by pressing a button).

In this timelapse video, you can discover how these two Venetian icons were recreated using LEGO bricks by skilled experts from Merlin Magic Making.

And in addition to Venice, the LEGOLAND Water Park Gardaland would not be complete without reproducing the architecture that makes Rome the eternal city it is today –  from the Coliseum to the Trevi Fountains, and again to Saint Peter’s Cathedral – as well as an area dedicated to Italian Icons hosting some of Italy’s most representative monuments, including the Milan Cathedral, The Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Inside the themed area, there will also be a cluster dedicated to the Gardaland Resort representing its most-loved attractions, from Prezzemolo’s iconic Treehouse to the suggestive Fuga da Atlantide, as well as the brand new Gardaland Magic Hotel.

There is a recurrent theme at Miniland, which is common to all Legoland Resorts throughout the world, in that their character takes shape depending on the context into which they are inserted; the Miniland at the LEGOLAND Water Park Gardaland will therefore be unique, with LEGO Models created as custom-designed monuments that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
