Old coasters never die. They just go to the dogs. When Morey’s Piers, Wildwood, New Jersey, re-tracked their existing Great Nor’Easter roller coaster, an SLC by Vekoma Rides positioned on Surfside Pier, they saved and are now recycling the old track. Eleven pieces of the discarded track are being used to create a giant artistic dog sculpture to place on Wildwood’s section of dog beach near the existing giant fire hydrant. When complete it will tower about 35 feet (11 m) high. The artists creating the sculpture are Pete Bielings and Pete Bielings, Jr.
