Atlantis The Palm, Dubai, recently introduced the world’s deepest Sea Trek– Aqua Trek Extreme. From Sub Sea Systems, the experience takes place in the Ambassador Lagoon within The Lost Chambers Aquarium at a depth of 32 feet (9.8 m).
The world-famous Ambassador Lagoon is a 2.9 million gallon (11 million litre) habitat that ranks in the top ten largest aquariums in the world. That’s enough water to fill 4.5 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The main viewing window into the Lagoon is 33 ft (10 m) long and the acrylic is 28 in (70 cm) thick. The aquarium’s residents include groups of schooling and shoaling fish, white tip reef sharks, black tip reef sharks, and many different species of rays.
Sea Trek participants descend into the aquarium using a custom-fabricated ladder, themed to look like ruins from the “Lost City of Atlantis.” At the bottom, Trekkers meander around ancient-looking artifacts, while curious sea life swim all around and spectators wave from the other side of the acrylic.
At Atlantis, they promise “you are different in water,” and with Sea Trek Extreme, “you’re daring in water!”
