Welcome on board!

Roland Mack appointed IAAPA vice-chair

Roland Mack will become the first German to join the board of directors at IAAPA (the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions), when he is made third vice chair during the upcoming IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando.

This means the managing director of Europa-Park, who is also a director of Mack Rides, will automatically become chairman of the association in three years’ time. The board voted unanimously in favour of Mack’s appointment during the recent Euro Attractions Show in Munich, and he will take up the vice-chairman role on a voluntary basis on November 21.

His appointment to the board of directors comes just one year after Mack’s son’s Michael and Thomas took up new positions within Europa-Park. “I have always stressed that the next generation should be introduced to its tasks as soon as possible and this is now paying off,” he says. “My sons have already proven, on many occasions, how actively they can support my brother Jürgen and myself in the management of the park.”

IAAPA will welcome in a new chairman this November when Darrell Metzger replaces Bob Masterson. Chip Cleary from Parques Reunidos will then move up to the position of first vice-chairman, with Bob Rippy as second vice-chair.
