VRStudios Sports re-draws the boundaries of VR Gaming

VRStudios Sports is redrawing the boundaries of virtual reality gaming for the new normal in Location-Based Entertainment with an engagement platform that links players’ in-home VR gameplay with their social, competitive, premium experiences at out-of-home amusement venues like family entertainment centres (FECs).

According to VRstudios CEO Kevin Vitale, “While we care deeply about the impact of COVID-19 to the people and businesses in our industry, we continue to believe in a robust recovery driven by the inherent, and now pent up, basic human need to connect, meet up, socialise and share experiences together. To that end, I am super excited about the launch of VRstudios Sports as a new foundation to connect players and relationships between home and the LBE facility. It redraws the traditional boundaries as ‘Home’ becomes a new extended LBE location and VR adds a whole new dimension to ‘eSports’.”

VRStudios Sports features broadly appealing, highly replayable, physically active and competitive VR sports games, along with the AMP Player Portal for tracking scores, leaderboards, and persistent profiles for play @Home and @LBE.

VRStudios’ Sports’ first title, Hoops Madness, delivers a seriously fun VR basketball experience with realistic shooting and ball-handling, inviting the players to move up the leaderboard ranking performance at home and at the entertainment LBE venue. Players practice solo or connect, practice, and compete online at home solo or in multiplayer matches for up to 8-players in a virtual n arena setting, virtually surrounded by the exhilarating sights and sounds. Hoops Madness is available now at home in Early Access at home on STEAM and on all VRStudios’ ATOM and FLEX systems at LBE venues.

VRStudios expands its Attraction Management Platform (AMP), field-proven after operating for more more than 4 years delivering millions of commercial VR experiences, with the development of a new player portal, which allows players to create persistent profiles that follow them from home to FEC, tracking their scores, ranking their performance on global leaderboards, and enabling participation in competitions. The AMP Player Portal provides opportunities for FECs to build communities of new fans and customers.

VRstudios VP of marketing Yoni Koenig adds, “Bridging consumer engagement at home and the FEC, provides opportunities for FECs to build communities by inviting players to be the champ at home and away”

VRStudios, pioneers in large format, free-roaming, multiplayer VR attractions for Location-Based Entertainment, has developed VRStudios Sports as an unprecedented, powerful platform connecting players’ in-home VR experiences with out-of-home amusement venues like family entertainment centers (FECs). Players enjoy the convenience of playing for fun, practicing, and competing casually in online VR sports matches @Home, and now they can also travel to socialize, spectate and compete with multiple players while enjoying the premium experiences offered by their local entertainment center. Instead of competing with in-home entertainment, FEC operators now have powerful new options for building awareness with new audiences, maintaining a connection to players at home, promoting events, and driving in-store revenue.

Coming soon, VRstudios will introduce a new attraction, the FURY Sports Booth, an innovative unattended VR attraction designed to reduce the cost of operations for an FEC while inviting guests into VRStudios Sports gameplay. The single-player modular system can be networked with other Fury units and is complementary to the VRstudios ATOM and FLEX multi-player attractions.

A bold future extension of the VRStudios’ vision for a connected ecosystem spanning home and LBE will be the application of VRstudios’ patent-pending BYO-VR technology to develop unique products and solutions that redefines how players and spectators engage in LBE virtual reality experiences. The novel collection of technology will enable players and spectators to securely bring their own VR/AR devices to their FEC for experience engagement, personalization and hygiene, while also reducing the cost of entry and operations for LBE operators.
