The Grizzly reopens at Kings Dominion

Having closed in 2022 for re-tracking and renovations, Kings Dominion’s wooden coaster The Grizzly is now ready to roar again.

The beast shakes riders to the bone on its forest-bound trajectory, bringing added elements of surprise and mystery to the coaster, which otherwise comprises a classic layout with a number of proven, time-tested features.

While the essence of the The Grizzly remains to same, Kings Dominion – located in Doswell, Virginia – has upped the ante with the new and improved version of this well-loved wooden coaster which first opened in 1982.

The Grizzly is now longer at 3162ft, steeper at 55 degrees and reaches 51mph on the first drop. Kings Dominion commented: “Grizzly received 1,040 feet of industry veteran Gravity Group’s engineered precut track, making the ride smoother and overall a more enjoyable experience while maintaining the classic look and feel of a true wooden roller coaster.”
