Efteling, the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland, opened its doors to the public again on Wednesday 20 May. Three weeks later, the Park World team caught up with CEO Fons Jurgens to find out how guests were enjoying being back.

To ensure Efteling was safe to re-open again, Fons and the team introduced a range of measures from a protocol that drawn up by industry association Club van Elf and the Dutch Association of Zoos. We put of a lot of work into the re-opening as we wanted to ensure that our guests and employees are always safe,” said Fons. To do this, we had testing days in which employees and their families visited the park and some of our accommodation to test the new measures. Once we deemed that this was safe, we gradually increased the capacity for the park to allow our employees to get used to the new working methods, which are continuously evaluated and improved to keep both employees and guests safe.”
