The “Base Sports Nature” municipal facility in the Breton town of Cesson-Sévigné (France) offers a wide range of activities for competitive and recreational athletes and clubs, as well as supervised outdoor activities for schools and other groups of guests.

The new boat transport system, which was planned and integrated into the system by Austrian conveyor technology specialist Sunkid, also meets these high requirements.

Sunkid CEO Emanuel Wohlfarter is satisfied:

“We have already equipped the Olympic white water stadium in Tokyo (2021) and the “Neue Donau” white water facility in Vienna with one of our water conveyor belts. Thanks to the “Terre de Jeux” label for the entire facility, international canoeing athletes are also training in Cesson-Sévigné for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.”

The Sunkid solution saves them from having to leave their boats and carry heavy equipment. Driven by an 11 kW electric motor, the endless conveyor belt with its proven Rufftop surface transports the athletes and their boats safely and comfortably from the end of the course to the higher start. Loading and unloading, even of large rafts with many passengers thanks to the 2 meter belt width, takes place completely in the water.

“With its multifunctional usage concept for top and junior athletes as well as a public leisure facility for families and schools experiencing water sports for the first time, the project in Cesson-Sévigné reflects Sunkid’s philosophy: As the world market leader for outdoor person conveyor belts (more than 4,000 installations) and the first point of contact for year-round leisure attractions for the whole family.”

Wohlfarter summarises.
