Tidal Twiser, a duelling roller coaster-like ride, is set to arrive in SeaWorld San Diego in May 2019. The unique horizontal ride is the first of its kind in the world – a Skywarp Horizon model built by Skyline Attractions.
Accelerating to 30mph and powered throughout the 30ft tall ride path, riders will twist and bank as they ride the tide along a tight lemniscate track that includes dynamic Zero-G roll at the centre section.
Two trains, holding 16 passengers each, load at opposite ends of the 288ft layout and cross in the centre with guests facing both forward and backward on the trains. A lower-height requirement of 48 inches (122 cm) makes this attraction a perfect ride for younger guests and families, and hourly throughput is estimated to be 1,100.
“There is no other coaster experience in the world like Tidal Twister. The two trains duel one another and guests will see the excitement on the faces of other riders. You’ll almost feel like you can reach out and touch them. The tight turns, the inversion and the airtime hill will leave our guests wondering which way is up.
– Marilyn Hannes, SeaWorld San Diego’s park president.
Tidal Twister, elevated 16ft off the ground on a tight footprint of 115ft by 55ft, will be located adjacent the Aquaria touch pool and aquarium in the northwest corner of the park, a location that accentuates the new attraction’s conservation element that focuses on sustainable aquaculture and coral reef protection.
