Sea Life at Legoland California

Aquarium opening soon

The Lost City of Atlantis has been recreated as part the new Sea Life Aquarium at Legoland California in Carlsbad, due to open August 11.

The 175,000 gallon ocean display features a 10ft-tall statue of Poseidon, amazing sea creatures and a 7ft long Lego submarine and diver. More than 72 Lego models are being created by Legoland California’s Master Model Builders specifically for the new attraction.

“It’s really exciting to see the reaction of sharks, stinrays, snappers and other creatures to an underwater world full of Lego models,” said Chris Spaulding, senior curator of the aquarium. “You won’t be able to see anything like this anywhere else in the United States.”

A 35-foot-long acrylic ocean tunnel allows guests to walk through and experience the “lost city” without ever getting wet. More than a standard aquarium, Sea Life provides an unusual educational and interactive dynamic. Featuring play zones, fun facts and quiz trails. Sea Life is designed to be a child’s first aquarium experience.
