Rougarou – something old, something new

#11 Rougarou CorkscrewCedar Point’s stand-up B&M rollercoaster, Mantis,  is set to return as a re-imagined coaster called Rougarou, complete with floorless trains. Re-opening this coming spring, the attraction will take riders on a journey at speeds reaching 60mph (96km/h) as their feet dangle just inches above the track and the murky waters of the park’s swampy lagoon, which it shares with other coasters like Iron Dragon and Top Thrill Dragster. Using the same structure and track Mantis, Rougarou will feature the world’s only inclined loop on a floorless coaster, angled at 45º.

The new-look attraction, featuring repainted track and supports, takes its name from a terrifying werewolf-like creature in French folklore. Other B&M attractions at the park include the Raptor inverted coaster and GateKeeper wing coaster.

Also for 2015, Cedar Point will debut a newly-renovated Hotel Breakers. Along with a new exterior, the modernised hotel will have a new entrance portal, classic interior finishes, newly-furnished and remodelled rooms with LCD TVs, new furniture, bedding and décor, and many other amenities and offerings including a Starbucks and Surf Lounge bar.CedarPoint_Rougarou_Layout
