New coaster speed record looms
When Ring Race, a new compressed air launch coaster from S&S Worldwide, debuts in July 2009, it will set a new land-speed record for rollercoasters.
Being built at the Nürburgring, a motorsport race track in Nürburg, Germany, Ring Race will catapult riders from zero to 135 mph in an astounding 2.5 seconds. They will experience a maximum of 4Gs during this rocket sled ride. Riders will be dispatched every 90 seconds.
