OWA now open!

OWA, a new ‘amusement and entertainment destination’ located in Foley, Alabama, has now opened. The $240 million OWA project, including an amusement park, 150-room hotel, retail, dining options, and an artificial lake, is a project that has been developed by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Centered on a 14-acre (5.7 hectare) lake, OWA opened on the 21st July and features 21 themed rides including the Rollin’ Thunder roller coaster and a 400-seat amphitheater. Retail tenants include Wahlburgers restaurant, Sunglass World, Fairhope Soap Company, Alvin’s Island, Hershey’s Ice Cream Shop, and Utopia.

Just nine miles (14 km) from Gulf Shores, Alabama, OWA is located adjacent to the City of Foley’s $40 million sports tourism complex, which features 16 outdoor fields and a 90,000 square foot (8,361 sq m) indoor events center.

Future plans call for expanding the amusement park and adding a waterpark, along with additional hotels, a condominium complex, and a resort-level RV park. When all phases are complete, the development’s total cost is expected to top $500 million.
