Nigerian park planned

A new amusement park development is planned for Nigeria. The $80 million Great Adventures Amusement Park & Resort is scheduled to open late 2012 in Udi, part of the state of Enugu.

The CDS Group of Detroit, Michigan, will design and build the project on over 200 acres of land provided by the Enugu State Government. A central part of the development will be a $50 million amusement park, with Chance Morgan chosen as exclusive ride supplier, and ProSlide kitting out the waterpark. Construction will start in early 2010.

The park will be underpinned by a theme charting the region through time, highlighting its people, land and culture. It will also touch on the history of Enugu, at one time the capital of the East Central State. The layout will be a classic theme park loop, with a three-tiered circular path. At the main entrance there will be historical artefacts and sculptures side-by-side with new, technologically-advanced elements.

Chance’s contribution will include a giant wheel, family coaster, double-deck carousel, Wipeout, Pharoah’s Fury (pirate ship), plus eight rides from SBF and an Interactive Rides launch tower. ProSlide will deliver a variety of attractions including a ProRacer and various children’s water slides. Bob’s Space Racers will also deliver 16 games.
