New water ride for Cedar Point

Shoot the Rapids, a 2,100-ft long water ride from IntaRide, will soak guests from the start of next season at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio.

The ride, which represents a $10.5 million (€7.3m) investment is the most expensive water ride ever built at Cedar Point and will boast an hourly capacity of approximately 1,200 using 10 boats. Riders will be seated in five rows of two and secured with individual over-the-head restraints.

During the journey, each boat will travel through a wooded area and past several surprise water elements and special effects. The excitement builds when the boats ascend one of two lift hills. The first and largest will be 85ft tall and drop riders down onto Millennium Island at a 45-degree angle. The second hill will be 49ft tall but feature a dramatic “shoot” through water rapids and rockwork.

“Shoot the Rapids will instantly become a family favourite,” predicts Cedar Point vice-president and general manager, John Hildebrandt. “Our guests wanted another option to cool off on warm summer days. We listened.”
