New entertainment at Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo DisneySea will premiere a new after dark entertainment spectacular titled Fantasmic! to celebrate the Japanese park’s 10th anniversary in 2011. At the neighbouring Tokyo Disneyland park, Mickey’s PhilharMagic (pictured) will open in 2011.

Fantasmic! will debut next April and take place nightly in Mediterranean Harbor and feature Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice who creates a world of wonder and imagination. Fantasmic! can already be seen at Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland in California and will continue in Tokyo after the DisneySea anniversary celebrations end.

Meanwhile Mickey’s PhilharMagic, which has so far featured at Disney parks in Florida and Hong Kong, is a 3D musical whirlwind through popular Disney films featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and other well-loved characters. At Tokyo Disneyland, it will replace The Mickey Mouse Revue, which closed in May.

On May 1 this year at the same park, Monsters Inc Ride & Go Seek! will re-open with enhancements to the “hide-and-go-seek: aspect of the ride.
