Adventureland Park, Des Moines, Iowa, has introduced The Monster, its first new rollercoaster since the addition of Outlaw back in 1993.

From Gerstlauer, The Monster features a 133ft (41 m) vertical lift hill with a 101° drop, the steepest coaster drop in Iowa and surrounding US states. Featuring 2,500ft (762m) of green steel track, the ride boasts five inversions and 10 air time moments including the only negative-G stall loop in the Western hemisphere. Riders reach a top speed of 65 mph (105kmh).

The attraction, which cost an estimated $9 million to construct, replaces the Log Ride, a staple of the park for almost 40 years.
