Middle East Safety Conference

IAAPA plans Dubai event

IAAPA, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, is to stage a Middle East Safety Conference later this month. Aimed at local operators, developers and government officials interested in achieving excellence in safety, it will be the first event of its kind.

The conference will take place at Le Meridian Dubai hotel on February 27 and 28 and participants will learn best safety practices while sharing their own experiences.
Speakers include IAAPA’s Dubai-based first vice-chairman Darrel Metzger (pictured), who has more than two decades’ industry experience with leadership positions at Tokyo Disneyland, Ocean Park, Sentosa Leisure Group, and now Ruwaad Destinations. Also representing IAAPA will be vice-president of government relations and services, Randy Davis.
They will be joined by Steve Blum, senior vice-president of safety and engineering for Universal Creative/Universal Parks and Resorts, and Jim Seay of Premier Rides, and also chairman of the ASTM International F-24 Committee, which develops and refines standards for amusement ride design, manufacture, and operation.
Registration costs US$99 and includes conference materials, food and drink. Find out more and register here.
