A fire broke out at Disney’s Epcot theme park in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday evening, resulting in a huge evacuation of the area as thick black smoke was seen billowing into the sky.

The fire originated in the France Pavilion within Epcot and a Disney spokesperson addressed the incident, confirming that the fire broke out backstage at the pavilion but was rapidly extinguished.

Rumours on social media suggested that a walk-in cooler might have been the culprit behind the fire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze.

On average, the attraction welcomes 32,876 guests daily.

The pavilion has had to be temporarily shut down to deal with the aftermath and guarantee the safety of visitors.
