Augmented reality dark rides available
Mack Rides has partnered with Total Immersion to create Hidden Reality, a very flexible dark ride with animation based around the French firm’s augmented reality technology.
Virtual effects are combined with the ride’s scenery and other special effects as passengers interact with the characters in the ride. Guests holding Total Immersion goggles can shoot at virtual reality targets and make a game of the ride.
Pictured here is an imagined scene featuring Europa-Park’s Europa Maus character. This is the kind of transformation guests can expect to see when they peer through the goggles. Under the terms of the exclusive agreement, Mack will manufacture the ride system, Clostermann Design will be responsible for the themed interior, and Total Immersion will provide the virtual reality software. Sales will be by handled Mack.
