Let Battle commence!

New water ride opens at Dollywood

Dollywood’s new interactive water ride has opened. Located in the Timber Canyon area of the park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the River Battle is a themed water raft ride equipped with powerful soaker guns.

Nine rafts, each with room for eight passengers, follow a 500ft channel. As the rafts navigate the waters, the battle begins as passengers, each armed with a soaker gun, take aim at each other and more than 100 targets along the way, including talking animals such as beavers, otters bears and more.

With an hourly ride capacity of 800 passengers, River Battle is be located just beyond Dollywood’s Mystery Mine steel coaster and was supplied by Mack Rides. The project also includes a new 750-foot walkway that provides a direct route to the park’s Craftsman’s Valley area from Timber Canyon.

To reinforce the interactive nature of the ride, guests can even play an online version once they get home via the Dollywood website.

*Following their success in Europe, Haystack Dryers have landed on US shores with the first machines being used on River Battle to dry Dollywood guests after they ride the new attraction. “The overall reaction and response from our guests has been outstanding,” says the park’s director of amusements and attractions, Jason Boothe.

Originating from the UK, Haystack Dryers introduced people drying to the public 10 years ago. The original body dryer, coupled with the family dryer, designed for drying up to five people at a time, can now be at parks throughout Europe. The dryer can be operated in a variety of environments and offers benefits such as revenue-generating opportunities, extended seasonal ride usage and improved customer service.
