Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia, is making waves in May 2020 with the renovation of the Coconut Shores area of their 20-acre water park, Soak City. Additions to the area include three major new enhancements.
Lighthouse Landing is set in an oversized wading pool and combines the interactivity of a play structure with water slides and provides fun for the whole family. The multi-level play structure will feature two gigantic tipping buckets and more than 200 interactive features, eight twisting slides and more.
Little ones will love jumping waves and making a splash in Sand Dune Lagoon, located just steps away from Lighthouse Landing. With a water depth of 24 inches (61 cm) this mini wave pool is a great way for little swimmers to cool down with waves of 12 inches (30 cm).
A new dining experience designed by Kings Dominion’s Executive Chef, Denis Callinan, will bring families together for a relaxing meal. Guests can enjoy family favorites like flat bread pizzas or delight in Latin and Asian flavors. Guest 21 and older can also quench their thirst with tropical alcoholic beverages and local craft beer.
As the children play nearby, parents can grab a chaise lounge and relax in the newly renovated spaces of Lighthouse Landing and Sand Dune lagoon, designed with spaces to soak up the sun or chill in the shade.
“The investment in Soak City demonstrates our commitment to being Virginia’s premier water park,” said Tony Johnson, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Dominion. “Offering a high-quality water park within our amusement park gives guests of every age a chance to cool down during the hottest part of the summer season. It’s our mission to make people happy and we believe our 2020 water park enhancements will go a long way to doing just that.”
