Kennywood, Sandcastle Waterpark and Idlewild & SoakZone are actively seeking more than 2,000 seasonal workers to bring to life the fun found at Pittsburgh’s Premier Destinations for Family Entertainment.

With plans in place for banner seasons featuring new special events and expanded operating calendars, each park needs hundreds of hardworking individuals looking for rewarding and engaging work.

  • Kennywood will begin its multi-year 125th season celebration on April 23, 2022, and those who apply today will be in the mix to operate the beloved classic attraction Kangaroo, as it makes a triumphant return this season. Ride Operators, Food & Beverage attendants, Park Security officers and Grounds & Housekeeping roles are among the more than 1,000 positions available.
  • At Sandcastle Waterpark, Aquatics staff and Lifeguards are needed, including operators of the thrilling new Bombs Away drop slide coming this summer. Pittsburgh’s Hometown Waterpark looks to hire approximately 300 people for seasonal roles within these departments, as well as Food & Beverage, Park Security, Admissions, and more.
  • Idlewild & SoakZone will hire roughly 700 individuals to welcome guests for its 145thseason, full of new events all season long.  The World’s Best Children’s Park has numerous exciting opportunities available, from character performers in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Story Book Forest to ride operators, lifeguards, and food service staff in Olde Idlewild and the SoakZone waterpark.

Sandcastle and Idlewild applicants can splash into lifeguarding jobs where they’ll be paid for the ten-day lifeguard training certification process, one of many perks provided across the three parks. Pay rates for positions requiring an adult (18 years old or a high school graduate) start as high as $15 at all three parks, plus benefits such as free admission to these and other parks nearby in the Tri-State Area and sister Palace Entertainment parks throughout the country. Key positions such as Lifeguards and Food & Beverage Attendants offer even better starting salaries, and bonuses and advancement opportunities are also available at all three locations. Additionally, all applicants that complete the application and hiring process by April 1 will receive four Bronze Season Passes to use themselves and share with family and friends.

“Taking a seasonal role is far and away the best way to get your foot in the door for those interested in the unique, rewarding world of working in an amusement park,” said Kennywood & Sandcastle Human Resources Director Joe Barron. “Most Kennywood, Sandcastle and Idlewild full-time Team Members trace their roots back to a seasonal role with us, and countless more credit the experience with a strong start to their career, whether in a similar field or something totally different.”

All three parks have plans for on-site job fairs in March; intrigued individuals can get started by applying now on each park’s respective web site. Positions are available for workers as young as 14 years old, with great opportunities also available for professionals and retirees interested in a flexible part-time job.
