The Kasai Canoe Slalom Center is the venue for the Canoe Slalom Competitions at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It was one of the first sports facilities to be officially opened in July 2019. To bring the canoeists and their equipment back to the elevated starting point, a special ride-on conveyor system is used. The 48 meter (157 foot) long and two meter (seven foot) wide boat conveyor was developed and produced by the Austrian conveyor specialist Sunkid.
CEO Emanuel Wohlfarter is proud about the company’s contribution to the 2020 Summer Games. “Of course,” he said, “we are very pleased to deliver a product for this special sport facility and so in a way contribute to the most prestigious sport event in the world.”
“It was very impressive to follow the development of the Canoe Slalom Center and we are now seeing a world-class venue where the world’s top paddlers will participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” added Jose Perurena, president of the International Canoe Federation (ICF), at the opening ceremony.
