Calabar Theme Park will celebrate spirit and culture of West Africa
Jack Rouse Associates (JRA) has landed its first project in Nigeria. The Cincinnati-based design firm has been chosen to provide the masterplan and preliminary concept design for the new Calabar Theme Park in the city of the same name.
Initial plans for the park are at a very early stage but include rides, shows and attractions celebrating the spirit and culture of the West Africa sub region. The “world class” park is intended to complement existing and emerging tourist attraction in the region including the adjacent Tinapa Business Resort. The project will also provide tremendous employment opportunities for the people of Calabar and Cross River State.
“We are honoured to be working with His Excellency Liyel Imoke, the governor of Cross River State, on this prestigious project,” says JRA executive vice-president Dan Schultz. “This is an exciting project for us, especially since we have found the spirit of co-operation as well as the warmth and hospitality of the people of Calabar to be outstanding.”
