Hersheypark construction underway

Construction continues on Hersheypark’s new Candymonium roller coaster and its new front gate. In late August, visitors manoeuvred their way into the 121-acre (49 hectares) theme park with more than 70 rides, a water park and a zoo in Hershey, Pennsylvania, between the two major construction sites that, when complete, will open in 2020.

Candymonium, a megacoaster from Bolliger & Mabillard, will span seven acres at the new entrance. The loading platform is now rising. When complete, the megacoaster will feature a lift height of 210 feet (64 m), maximum speed of 76 mph (122 kph), and track length of 4,636 feet (1,230 m), making it the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in Hersheypark. It will be part of the all-new Hershey’s Chocolatetown region, Hersheypark’s $150 million transformational expansion where guests can play, eat, shop and gather year round. The addition of this 15th coaster also means Hersheypark will have the most coasters of any park in the Northeast U.S. in 2020.

Candymonium will join other marquee elements of Hershey’s Chocolatetown in 2020, including a new arrival experience and front gate, restaurant, bar and patio, ice cream parlor and confectionary scratch kitchen, a Starbucks store, and a flagship retail store with the largest collection of Hersheypark merchandise.
