Efteling – the fairytale theme park in the south of Holland – is now open following the easing of lockdown restrictions in the Netherlands on 26 January.
The reopening of the park marks the start of its 70th birthday in 2022 with celebrations taking place throughout the year.
The jubilee year has kicked off with the opening of new ride Sirocco, which offers a dizzying boat ride in spinning merchant boats for all ages which is in a newly themed ‘Sindbad the Sailor’ area of the park. In addition, a second new attraction, Archipel, an exciting island of adventure for children to explore, will also be opening early this year.
At the beginning of February, decorations will go up around the park, which will include a party hat on the iconic Efteling character Langnek. At 4pm every day, party music will be played around the park and park visitors will be encouraged to join in the celebrations. From April until October, an extra special pop-up fairytale will be created on the Speelweide playing field in the heart of the park that will offer an exclusive experience for visitors of all ages.
