Double trouble coming to Efteling

Netherlands’ fairy-tale theme park Efteling has announced that the Bobsleigh track, due to reopen mid-October, will be replaced in 2020 by a new Mack Rides coaster: Max and Moritz.

Construction of the new double family ride rollercoaster is scheduled to begin in 2019 and conclude in spring 2020. Max and Moritz is being designed with children in mind, especially those aged four to ten, meaning it will continue the Bobsleigh’s legacy of being a first coaster experience for young guests.

The Swiss theming and station building of the Bob will be retained during the €15m project.

Max and Moritz are the central characters in a German poem from 1865, which details the pair’s tricks and hijinks, providing the inspiration for the coaster’s narrative.

Additionally, Efteling revealed that a new themed area will open in 2021, becoming part of the Travel Empire. The area will include its own new attractions, located next to the Efteling Hotel which will also receive some adjustments.
