Dive Coaster approved for SeaWorld San Diego

The California Coastal Commission has approved SeaWorld San Diego’s dive coaster planned to open in 2020. To be called Mako, this new roller coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard, which was announced in January, will be the tallest (153 feet or 47 m), fastest, and longest dive coaster in California, as well as the only floorless dive coaster in the state. It will travel more than 60 mph (97 kph) and cover nearly 2,500 feet (760 m) of track, with each floorless car able to hold 18 riders in three six-person rows. Construction is expected to get underway within the next few months.
