Digital interactive entertainment takes centre stage at LA conference

A new conference focusing on digital out-of-home interactive entertainment event is scheduled for the US next month. The inaugural DNA US event will take place in Los Angeles on October 2 and 3.

The conference, which follows a smaller event in London last year, will examine the emergence of technology into a variety of social experiences and real life attractions, tackling such topics as:

•The fusion of real and virtual experiences for leisure facilities

•The “Next-Generation Arcade”

•New models of interactivity in movie theatres

•3D interactive experiences in public places

•Augmented reality’s next stage in leisure facilities

•Gesture-based experiences

•Maximising social media in leisure facilities

Confirmed speakers include Jonathan Ackley (Walt Disney Imagineering), Brent Bushnell (Synn Labs), Eric Davis (National Media Services) , Clark Dodsworth (Osage Associates), Cammie Dunaway (Kidzania), Julie Eckert (NCM Media Networks), Karl Floyd (Blue Wave Media), Jon Fox (Helios Interactive Technologies), Craig Hanna (Thinkwell Design), Jack Hattingh (Monster Media 3D), Jon Hussman (Timeplay Entertainment), Dan Jamele (Mediamation), Ed Lantz (Vortex Immersion Media), Dave Lorenzini (4D Earth), David Payne (Kinetic Worldwide), Graham Plumb (Snibbe Interactive), Jamison Selby (Socialtype), Harold Tan (Immersive Technology Association), Bruno Uzzan (Total Immersion), Vincent John Vincent (GestureTek), Kevin Williams (KWP), Ernest Yale (Trio-tech) and Brent Young (Super 78 Studio).

Following the main programme on October 2, Randy White (White Hutchinson Leisure) will lead a half-day “on the spot” session at a local entertainment venue on October 3. A VIP reception and DNA mixer are also planned for those keen to do some networking and discuss the various issues raised during the conference.

The venue is USC Davidson Conference Center, Los Angeles, California, and sponsors include United Kingdom Trade & Investment and the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA).
