Dark Knight coasters planned for three Six Flags parks

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, New Jersey, Six Flags New England, Agawam, Massachusetts, and Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois, will each introduce an indoor dark coaster from Mack Rides for the 2008 season. Called The Dark Knight Coaster, the 46ft-high, 1,213ft-long ride will be based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming movie Batman movie The Dark Knight.

Built at a cost of over $7 million per park, the coaster will be located in the Movietown section of Six Flags Great Adventure, the DC section of Six Flags New England and the Orleans Place section of Six Flags Great America.

The coasters will use storytelling, physical movement, video, sound and special effects to plunge guests into the heart of Gotham City, which has under siege from The Joker. After setting foot onto a distressed, vandalised train platform, guests will speed through six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness, and dip into unforeseen danger.
