Experience the thrill of flight on Kings Dominion’s Rapterra, the tallest and longest launched wing coaster in the world, designed to provide riders with an exhilarating “sensation of flight” throughout the journey.
Upon completion, this remarkable ride will reach a height of 145 feet and extend over 3,000 feet in length, with a total ride time of 89 seconds. Riders will experience a maximum speed of 65 miles per hour.
Set to debut in 2025, Rapterra emulates the flight of the mythical Jungle Hawk, featuring an intense initial launch, steep drops, intricate twists, and sweeping turns. Utilizing electromagnetic propulsion, Rapterra propels riders directly from the station, accelerating from 0 to 65 miles per hour in just 4 seconds.
The ride begins with a dramatic plunge into a steep descent, rapidly gaining speed before ascending into a tight dive loop, marking the first of three thrilling inversions. Much like a Jungle Hawk, riders will navigate through the air, seamlessly shifting from side to side while altering their direction and altitude.
After soaring above the midway for a second time, riders will experience a sideways drop to the ground. The adventure continues as riders flip head-over-heels through a corkscrew, reach a peak with a fleeting sensation of weightlessness, and swiftly dive into a 360-degree raptor roll before concluding their flight.
