Conneaut Lake Park, Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, will not open this year. The park, home of the 1928-built Blue Streak roller coaster, is currently dealing with chapter 11 bankruptcy as efforts are underway to avoid permanent closure.
Factors that complicated reopening included the lack of a gate to allow the park to operate at limited capacity. They do not have the logistical infrastructure to control the number of people in the park as IAAPA, state, and federal guidelines require. Compounding this are social distancing protocals and sanitization requirements, all resulting in diminished operations that would require resources the park does not have. There is also the anticipated increased liability insurance costs for parks operating during the pandemic. The park hopes to resume operation next year.
